What age should my child start preschool?

Most children are ready for preschool between 2 and 3 years old, when they can manage short separations, communicate basic needs, and enjoy being around other children. At Untuk Anak, we welcome children from 2 to 5 years. Every child arrives at their own pace — we never rush the settling-in process.

When do kids typically start preschool?

Many families begin between ages 2 and 3, often easing in with shorter days first. Because we are open year-round, you do not need to wait for a school term — children can join us whenever your family feels ready.

What is the difference between daycare, preschool, and kindergarten?

Daycare focuses on care while parents work. Preschool blends care with intentional early learning through play. Kindergarten (TK) is the year before primary school. Untuk Anak combines nurturing daycare with progressive early education in one warm, home-based environment.

What will my child actually learn?

Children build the foundations that matter most in the early years: language and communication, early literacy and numeracy, problem-solving, independence, emotional regulation, and the joy of being a curious learner. Learning happens through play, real-life experiences (cooking, gardening, art), and meaningful projects — never worksheets.

Is preschool really necessary?

It is not legally required, but research consistently shows the early years shape long-term thinking, language, and social-emotional skills. A calm, child-led environment with caring educators helps children build confidence and a love of learning that carries forward into school and life.

How do you handle separation anxiety?

Gently and patiently. We welcome a gradual settling-in period where parents can stay nearby, and we follow the child's pace. Consistent routines, warm relationships with educators, and a peaceful environment help children feel safe.

Do you teach reading and writing?

We introduce early literacy and numeracy through stories, songs, conversation, cooking, and play — not flashcards or worksheets. For children aged 3 and up, small-group sessions gently support reading and writing readiness when each child shows interest.

Is the program bilingual?

Yes. Bahasa Indonesia and English are both used naturally throughout the day. Children absorb both languages through real conversation and play, without pressure or formal instruction.

What does a typical day look like?

A calm rhythm of arrival and soft start, morning circle, project work, outdoor exploration, shared meals, rest, and reflection. You can see our full daily flow on the Programs page.

How many children are in the space?

A maximum of twenty children across the full mixed-age group. Small numbers and a low child-to-educator ratio mean every child is seen, supported, and known well.
